BGCT Events 2014

Listed below are some of the events where it is beneficial to our work to have a BSM presence. Some of these are great opportunities for students as well. Please look at the list and let us know if you would be interested participating in any of these events. Please complete the form by February 24. Here is a brief description of what would be involved in each event:

  • unApologetic Conference - These conferences in San Antonio, Wichita Falls, and Houston have a great program line up that would be beneficial to students. We will not have a BSM exhibitor table. The invitation here is to attend and take students if possible.
    • Feb. 28-Mar. 1 - unApologetic Conference - San Antonio
    • Mar28-29 - unApologetic Conference - Wichita Falls
    • Apr 4-5 - unApologetic Conference - Houston

  • WMU Annual Meeting in Georgetown, Texas - We need someone to help with the BSM exhibit table at this meeting and express thanks to the women who attend. Many of these women are the ones who bring food to BSMs every week.
    • Apr. 4-5 - WMU Annual Meeting - Georgetown

  • Congreso - this is the youth evangelism conference and is attended by 6,000+ youth - predominantly from Hispanic churches across Texas. Robert Rueda and his students/staff will work the exhibit table. However your students, both Hispanic and non-Hispanic, would enjoy this experience. The sessions are usually in English with some Spanish phrases and music. It is a great meeting.
    • April 17-19 - Congreso - Waco

  • Super Summer - We would like to have a BSM presence at some point during the week in the Khaki School (just graduated from high school) all 7 weeks. Some lead team members are volunteering to go be team leaders. Some have volunteered to be teachers and are in the training for that role. However, even if we do not have someone present for the whole week, we can work with the leader of each Khaki school to have one of you talk to their group about BSM and get them to fill out cards for Texas Freshmen. We usually provide a giveaway as well. Checking any of these boxes lets us know you are available and will allow us to make arrangements to be in front of the students. This pretty much just requires going and hanging out for a few hours - maybe through a meal time with these students.
    • June 9-13 - Super Summer 1 - Dallas Baptist University
    • June 9-13 - Super Summer 2 - East Texas Baptist University
    • June 16-20 - Super Summer 3 - University of Mary Hardin Baylor
    • June 16-20 - Super Summer 4 - Hardin-Simmons University
    • June 23-27 - Super Summer 5 - Howard Payne University
    • June 30-July 4 - Super Summer 6 - Houston Baptist University
    • July 14-18 - Super Summer 7 - Hardin Simmons University

  • YEC (youth evangelism conference) - We have 5 lead team members who have volunteered to work the table but could use some additional help just being there. This is also one of those meetings that college students would enjoy. This year's lineup includes Dave Edwards, For King and Country, Dara Maclean, Propaganda, Barry St. Clair, Sam Dallas, Nick Gainey Band, and Bright City Lights. If you have a few students hanging around for summer school, this is a good weekend getaway for them that will bless them in the midst of a hot summer.
    • June 27-28 - Youth Evangelism Conference - Burleson

  • Camp Fusion - a multi cultural camp, Camp Exalted - an African American youth camp, and the Hispanic Singles camp all offer the same opportunities as Super Summer. BJ Ramon spoke at Camp Fusion last summer and his investment resulted in a Campus Missionary serving at UTD this year.
    • TBA - Camp Fusion (mid June)

  • Youth Ministry Conclave - a bit tricky this year because Engage 24 falls during these dates (and we want everyone participating in Engage 24). However, if you are close enough to drive in for part of the event, we have great opportunity to interact with several hundred youth ministers across the state and help them know about BSM.
    • October 13-15 - Youth Ministry Conclave - Arlington

  • BGCT Annual Meeting is not listed here. As you know, we have asked all BSM Directors and Associates to hold these dates open with the thought of all attending this meeting in Waco. We will ask you about this meeting at a later date.

  • Others

    • July 8-10 - African American Fellowship - Fort Worth
    • July 21-25 - Camp Exalted - Alto Frio
